Learning English: Everyday life situations – Interactive activity

Communicating means “sending, giving, or exchanging information and ideas,” which is often expressed non-verbally and verbally (Webster’s Dictionary). To start communicating in English we must have an order and plan. The most common way of learning to communicate in English is by learning everyday phrases or structures that we can use in common situations. Simple daily tings like, going to the restaurant, going shopping would fall under this category.

The more you practice and learn phrases (vocabulary is included) in common everyday situations the better prepared you will be to have a successful conversation in English. This is done by practicing and learning in context the different ways to communicate in common situations.

In this post we are going a site where you can learn some very common everyday English situations. First start by going to the following link http://www.gcflearnfree.org/. You will see the following image where you first have to sign up (it is very easy and quick)

After singing in choose the Everyday English option in the main page like in the following image:

Then you will be directed to a “menu” page and from this site you can choose what everyday English situation you would like to practice:When you choose the everyday situation then you can click on the PRINT option to have a copy of the instruction of the activity. The activity is with audio and it is interactive. The following is an example of the ATM realistic simulation. If you need help first click PRINT and afterthat you can START ACTIVITY.I hope these English simulations of everyday English situations can help you improve your ability to communicate in English. Remember to practice and take advantage of this free online interactive activity
