Free English Exercises – Grammar Exercises online 1

Learning English Blog – Best ESL English Links

Many times when I teach English students understand the theory quite easily but then when they have to produce and talk they just don’t do it right. This is something very common in students and the main reason is that they do not practice and do exercises enough.

Doing exercises makes us communicate better. When we repeat phrases, complete sentences, do grammar activities, answer reading questions, practice pronunciation or do writing activities, our brain and mind start to form patterns. These patterns then translate into natural answers and phrases which we then use in conversations. When we speak in English we shouldn’t think to much in grammar. Do you think in grammar when you speak your native language? No, right? We just talk and phrases come out instantly.

In order to start communicate better one of the things we should do is practice and do exercises as much as we can. Many students just go to class and then go home and do not open their books or workbooks. One can learn to understand more English but to communicate more naturally and without thinking it is necessary to practice. I remember when I learned how to play the guitar how simple it was to learn the notes. The difficult part was to do the changes and follow a rhythm. English is like playing the guitar. You might know the notes but playing a song takes practice and this takes effort and time

AgendaWeb is a great site with many online free English exercises. It is quite simple but what I like best from this page is the many different topics. Just go to the link an the end of this post and don’t forget to practice English.
